For the last thirty years my creative medium has been stained glass art. My early years took me to Las Vegas where I created several panels and stained glass art for the pianist Liberace and also did several pianos for him.
Other projects included mirrored panels, sand blasted, and hand painted mirror installations while working for John Hancock Studios. A huge project for the Star Dust Hotel which included their Mexican restaurant produced stained glass panels and a valance around their food court.
My life returned me to Champaign, but my love of glass continued. A connection with Glass FX, a local glass store and supplier here in Champaign, led to a teaching position for them. As a stained glass instructor I have taught six sessions a year for the last eight years. Each class is one night a week for two and a half hours for six weeks.
During my experience with Glass FX I was introduced to fused glass and have been working actively in this medium for four years. I have work displayed at a local gallery named Wind, Water, and Light here in Champaign, IL.
While participating in our local Saturday Market last summer, I was connected to a man named J.C. Ford. He is a worldwide contemporary glass art collector. He has had several galleries of his own and chose to purchase several of my pieces of work. J.C. has been a great encourager and helped me to get my art seen. This will be my first year to participate in juried art shows.
My collection continues to grow as I expand my visions and put them in glass. Each week a new design comes forth, even though it may take several weeks to produce. As I work I thank God for the creative gifts and talent he has given me .
I hope you will be inspired by what you see and encouraged to seek more.
May God bless your journey as he has mine.
